Strength

Every year the department is luring enthusiastic students from different places of Tripura. Most of them have secured good marks in their final examinations and have earned popularity and respect for the department.

It is also to be noted that most of our passed out students have secured respectable employment in different departments of the state and central governments. In this respect, the hard work and dedication of the faculty members towards the development of the department and the students as a whole could not be ignored.

Besides, imparting lessons from the syllabus, the faculty members are assisting students for university entrance examination, civil service examination, bank related examinations etc. Moreover, the faculty members of the department are quite open and friendly and all types of teaching conduct has been made students oriented as far as practicable.

Weakness

In some phases of time, the department had experienced shortage of faculty members. Students who admitted in this institution are mostly from Bengali Medium School and as such both Bengali and English are used as a medium of teaching.

The department has been striving hard to meet its emerging requirements like smart class, separate faculty room, enough class rooms for all semesters and courses. In this regard, the authority of the institution has been trying its level best to make accessible in a short span of time.

Opportunity

Degree in Economics subject is highly regarded in the world. B.A. / B.Sc. Economics passed out students can pursue further studies for Master Degree in the same subject or in other related subjects like Master of Business Administration(MBA)  Master of Science in Social Administration(MSSA), Master of Social Work (MSW) etc. As far as job opportunities are concerned, students of economics have a wide range of opportunities in various departments of both NGOs and government sectors.

Threat analysis

A separate departmental library can help the students to continue study round the year uninterruptedly. A smart class room for Economics Department is very much essential to improve the teaching learning process. Special attention of the faculty members can improve the English language skill (Speaking, reading, writing) of the students to confront future academic stages of their life.
