About the Department

The Department of Sanskrit, Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya, came into being in 1951 as a second oldest college of Tripura with UG General Course and it started Major course in 2001. At present the Department has the intake capacity of Major course is 60 seats and no bar for General course. A Credit Based Semester System was introduced in 2014 as per the guidelines of Tripura University. The medium of teaching in the department is and Sanskrit, Bengali and Hindi. The faculty members of the department are fully committed to provide quality education and academic achievement of the students.

Evaluation system:

Various type of task like Assignments, Viva-Voice, Projects, seminar etc. in every Semester.

Strength, Weakness, Opportunities & Threats analysis (SWOT) of the department:

Strength:

The faculty members are well qualified and fully committed to the development of the department and strengthening the academic performance of students.

1. The sincerity, punctuality and dedication of the faculty members to motivate the students.
2. A good collection of books is available in the departmental library.
3. Faculty members are regularly attended various courses like Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses etc. to update their knowledge to improve their teaching performance.
4. We organize seminars, special lecture etc. to improve Student’s knowledge in specific topic of our subject.
5. Extra curriculum activities done by the Student’s are very well like wall magazine, Art in the wall etc.
6. Good result by the Students.

Weaknesses:

1. One of the major weaknesses is Shortage of regular faculty members.
2. Lack of communication skills in the language.
3. Due to a shortage of faculties, the internal assessment and evaluation process cannot be executed properly.
4. It is very difficult to manage the general/pass classes because, in a single class, the attendance of the students is close to about 200.

1. To Organize various Level of Seminar.
2. To Organize Sanskrit learning Camp.
3. To promote Smart Class Learning for the Students.
